Jo's Annual Chili Cook Off

Thanks to all who came out to our 2024 event. See you in 2025!

Since 2005, Hotel San José and Jo’s Coffee have partnered to host our annual Chili Cook-Off + Benefit to warm up the winter for everyone in Austin. Proceeds raise money to support Free Lunch, which works to address food insecurity in our fair city. Amateur and professional culinary talent engage in a five-alarm battle for the prized chili pot. The day is also filled with chili-related festivities—a Quick Fire Competition, music from special guests and the Jo’s House Band, a Raffle, and more.

Entry is always free, so come enjoy live music and thrilling completion. If you want to eat, tasting wristbands are available on-site for purchase. You’ll get a sample of each chili along with one ticket to vote for your favorite.

WINNER'S CIRCLE

Take a look at our 2024 winners below, and don’t forget to shape up those chili recipes in time for next year’s competition:

🌶️ 1st Place – Popes of Chilitown

🌶️ HEB Quick Fire Challenge – All Pro Smoke Show

Raising Money for Free Lunch

Free Lunch ATX is a collective of Austin creatives who reduce food insecurity by cooking and serving food and engaging in food access advocacy by publishing a quarterly magazine. Their main focus is on the health of those who are experiencing homelessness in our community.

In 2024, thanks to you, we were able help us raise $9,875 for our friends Free Lunch. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. Here’s to raising even more next winter.

WE LOVE OUR SPONSORS

Jo's House Band

The Jo’s House Band brings the boot scootin’ tunes to Jo’s South Congress every Sunday, and they have made our the Annual Chili Cook Off Two Stepping contest possible since the very beginning. This year is no exception, so bring your best dips, your fastest twirls and your favorite dancing partner to compete, or just sit back and enjoy the music with hot chili in hand.
