About Hotel Daphne
Located in the charming Houston Heights neighborhood, Hotel Daphne is the latest project from Austin’s acclaimed hospitality group Bunkhouse Hotels. With 49 rooms, it’s an inviting escape in a residential neighborhood on the rise.
Hotel Daphne features an all-day restaurant and bar, a library/small private events space, and lobby retail shop signature to the Bunkhouse brand.
Hypsi
Tucked into the heart of Houston Heights, our full-service Italian restaurant and lounge offers an elevated escape—serving aperitivo-style cocktails and housemade pasta from Chef Terrence Gallivan. A true neighborhood gathering spot, we feature a roving tableside mozzarella cart, lumache alla vodka, squid ink radiatori, Duroc pork Milanese, and pistachio pie.
We’re always aperitifs, sun-drenched patios, al fresco dining, and lively conversation. Our doors are open to all looking for a good time. Join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, or happy hour.

Earning Our Laurels
Daphne’s name offers a layered and independent backstory. Bunkhouse found inspiration in the Grecian myth river god Peneus’ daughter, who saved herself from the unwanted advances of Apollo by transforming into a laurel tree. The poisonous laurel plant that bears her name is noted for its delicate, sweet, spicy, and soapy-scented flowers and brightly coloured berries. The dichotomy of desire and danger calls to the aesthetic interplays within the design, and the laurel serves as inspiration to create a space worthy of praise.
